Lexmark UK: Invest in multifunctional office machines
21/11/2007 15:10
Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) should invest in multi-functional office equipment such as all-in-one devices that contain a scanner, printer and fax machine, according to Lexmark UK.
By doing so, organisations can save money on contracts as well as reducing the amount of energy used by a group of several office machines, the company stated.
A recent Lexmark study found that 62 per cent of SMBs in Britain have laser multi-function printers, but only 55 per cent use their office machines to fax and scan.
"SMBs should always check that the MFP offers the functionality to print, copy, fax and scan. Not all MFPs automatically include these options, which are essential in maximising productivity," the office equipment manufacturer said.
It also suggested that the amount of ink used from printer cartridges can now be controlled in many modern office machines, which can also be a good cost-saving measure.
When shopping for new office equipment, firms should take into account "which applications the user will typically print from", Lexmark UK suggested, explaining that different applications are more suitable for different office machines.
