Law office installs greener printers

Office equipment New, greener printers are set to be installed in the officers of a London law firm, after the company decided to boost its green credentials, it has emerged.

Norton Rose has asked office machines manufacturer Canon to install the new office equipment, worth £300,000, in its More London Riverside premises, the Lawyer reports.

The organisation said that the importance of meeting environmental targets was a prime motivator for the purchase, as well as a desire to increase fee-earners' efficiency.

A combination of 480 colour and black-and-white multifunctional printers and desktop printers will be set up in the new offices, which opened their doors in May.

Anthony Salter, IT project manager at the company, told the news provider that black-and-white desktop printers would help employees tell the difference between draft jobs - which use recycled paper - and their final versions, which are produced using the multifunctional office machines.

Additionally, he hopes that the office equipment will help the firm reduce the amount of office supplies, such as paper, that it uses.

In related news, law office technology presenter Randy Kessler recently claimed that more law offices have been trying to cut down on their use of paper-based office supplies.
