IBM aims to create office equipment interoperability
13/02/2007 16:33
Businesses will be able to use a range of software in conjunction with their hi-tech office equipment thanks to IBM's latest innovation.
It has launched a new Open Client Solution that it claims will allow employees to improve productivity and efficiency through the use of office equipment.
This is as the Open Client Solution allows greater interoperability between software designed by different manufacturers, a problem that has plagued the technology world since the inception of computers.
Lotus, Firefox and Linux software is all compatible with the IBM innovation, with the firm confirming that Microsoft and Mac applications will soon be added to the list as well.
Scott Handy, IBM's worldwide vice president for Linux and open source software, said: "We've created a single flexible software stack that only requires one set of investment and one team of developers to run on multiple operating systems."
Open Client Solution is currently being used by thousands of IBM employees and has allowed them to collaborate more freely on work and other projects.
Mr Handy added that the platform had been "battle tested" and as such should not let consumers and businesses down.
At Paperstone, we have a wide selection of office equipment to suit your businesses needs.
