Hewlett-Packard (HP), the printer supplies specialist, has announced that it has retained its status as the world's number one brand in terms of server shipments.
Figures released by the industry analyst firm IDC revealed that HP, widely recognised for its printer supplies and inkjet cartridges, has achieved it 20th consecutive server shipment leadership.
HP captured 33.6 per cent shipment share in the opening quarter, underlining its status as an IT and printer supplies market leader.
Mark Hudson, vice president of marketing, Enterprise Storage and Servers, HP, said: "Today's results from IDC demonstrate HP's formidable strength as a technology provider and confirm that we're meeting and exceeding customer needs.
"The strong growth in ProLiant, Integrity and BladeSystem shows not only the breadth and value of our portfolio, but also the strong customer acceptance from midsized businesses through large enterprises and high-performance computing customers."
HP is a global leader in printer supplies, inkjet cartridges and the world's largest information technology corporation.
The company employs 156,000 staff all over the world and its revenue last year was $91.7 billion (£46 billion), compared to IBM's revenue of $91.4 billion.
