Firms urged to recycle office supplies
14/05/2007 16:58
Firms across the UK are being urged to recycle their office supplies and other unwanted goods for the benefit of British charities.
A recent study by In Kind Direct revealed that £1.37 million of surplus goods, including office equipment and office furniture is ending up in landfill sites and external recycling.
But the Prince of Wales' charity has called on business owners to redistribute unwanted office supplies and other consumer goods and promote the vast potential of 'in-kind giving'.
The products identified by In Kind Direct that charities need most include cleaning products, basic toiletries, toilet paper, office supplies, cookware, tools, toys, linen and clothing.
Charity chief executive Robin Boles said: "Every day in the UK, charities struggle to raise sufficient funds to purchase essential items.
"At the same time, manufacturers and retailers will send these very same items to landfill, denying charities the chance to use these goods and make a real difference to people in need."
He added that the charity has the infrastructure in place to quickly accept donations and track everything through to the beneficiary charities, saving businesses time by redistributing the obsolete stock for them.
At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office supplies.
