Firms generating 4m tonnes of waste office supplies

Waste office supplies still account for four million tonnes of rubbish, according to a government-backed environmental campaign group.
Envirowise has claimed that manufacturers could be doing more at the design and production stage to reduce the amount of waste being produced by businesses through paper and cardboard boxes.
It claims that a number of products come with "room to breathe" when they are packaged, despite the fact that much of this is unnecessary.
Envirowise regional manager Kate Haigh said: "Some businesses could even be doubling their transport costs, simply because their products are over-packed.
"And with 67 per cent of consumers surveyed always buying the least packed product when given a choice, it is clear there is both an environmental and a commercial motivation to act."
Businesses around the country spent more than £100 million on recycling used office supplies and waste packaging in 2005, after using the equivalent of 1.25 billion cardboard boxes - enough to cover an area 20 times the size of Norwich, according to Envirowise.
At Paperstone, we offer a full range of recycled office supplies to help your company save the environment.
