Firm help reduces waste from printer cartridges

Printer supplies A company newly launched in the UK claims that it can help organisations cut down on waste involving printers, printer cartridges and office supplies.

GreenPrint Technologies has introduced IT Energy, which offers CO2-saving solutions for IT departments. It provides measures which allow users to delete excess pages in print jobs, which it says can help save time, money and waste.

The firm's software evaluates each page before it is printed to identify characteristics such as the last page of a web printout which just contains a URL. Users can also manually delete particular pages from their print jobs through an easily manipulated print preview function.

According to figures from the Lexmark Ipsos survey cited by GreenPrint Technologies, the average UK office worker prints 38 pages per day from office machines, which equates to 8,816 pages per year.

Of this, some 29 per cent could be considered unnecessary, the firm states, explaining that both energy and office-based office supplies are wasted by such activity.

Matt Crane, managing director of IT Energy, commented: "We're finding many organisations are trying to reduce their cost per printed page with multi-functional devices or simply redirecting print jobs to more efficient printers."

It was recently revealed that Asda would begin to stock recycled office supplies in its stores.

At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of printer supplies.
