Epson inkjet printers 'aimed at home offices'
28/09/2007 15:34
Epson Stylus D120 printers are targeted at people working from home offices, according to a reviewer.
Simon Williams writes in Trusted Reviews that the office machines are "as conventional as an inkjet printer can be from the outside".
He describes that exterior of the printers as featuring flip-up paper supports at the rear end of the machine, which hides a paper feed tray for paper. The output tray folds down from a front panel.
Five printer cartridges are located under the top cover of the D120. Mr Williams explains that both of the black printer cartridges use the same type of ink, unlike some photo printers which require both a dye-based cartridge and a pigment-based cartridge.
"There are two them purely to increase the black capacity of the printer for an office environment," he writes.
Regarding printing speeds, Epson claims that the office machines can print at speeds of 25 ppm and 11 ppm for black and colour respectively.
"To be an effective alternative to a laser [printer], an inkjet has to produce print of similar quality, at similar speed and costing a similar amount per page," the reviewer concludes, adding that his tests found slower speeds then Epson's claims.
In addition to printers, Epson manufactures a range of office equipment, such as scanners and projectors.
