Canon tops US and Western Europe market
30/03/2007 16:52
Canon has announced it is the still top dog in the US and western European print copier markets.
The Gartner Dataquest Printer Quarterly Statistics revealed the copier giants were the overall brand leader in the states for 2006.
It is the fifth year in a row Canon has been named number one in every speed category of the black and white copier market and the 24th time in 25 years they have been named overall brand leader.
Ryoichi Bamba, executive vice president and general manager for Canon USA's imaging systems group, said significant investments in technology had allowed them to deliver the most robust colour and black and white products in the industry.
Meanwhile, Canon's European arm revealed it had a three per cent lead over its nearest competitor as overall brand leader with a 16.5 per cent share of the market.
Paul Rowntree, European marketing manager for Canon Europe, revealed the company would continue to put ten per cent of non-consolidated sales back into research and development.
He said: "Retaining our number one position in the black and white and colour plus colour-capable segments is significant for us, in that it confirms that businesses prefer to buy Canon when it comes to reliable and affordable high-quality document output."
