Canon customers 'most satisfied with printers'
21/09/2007 12:05
Customers of Canon put the office equipment firm's photo printers at the top of the list regarding satisfaction, according to new data.
The JD Power and Associates 2007 Photo Printer Usage and Satisfaction Study ranked the photo-printing office machines in terms of four key factors - performance, connectivity, ease of operation and appearance.
Canon received a score of 728 out of 1,000 overall in the survey, performing well in all categories. HP's printers also scored well, with 707 points.
Features which customers look for in photo printers include the capacity to print directly from a digital camera or memory card and wireless connectivity, the research indicated.
"Single-function photo printers are a growing niche market, particularly among customers who value convenience in efficiently producing photo prints," commented Steve Kirkeby, executive director of telecommunications and technology at JD Power and Associates.
"While price continues to be the most important factor to customers in shopping for a photo printer
other aspects of the product, like quality, ease of use and portability are largely defining brands and are becoming the critical points of product differentiation between them."
The study also found that almost 90 per cent of customers say they would buy more office machines from the same printer manufacturer.
JD Power and Associates is based in California.
