VoIP to replace traditional office equipment
08/12/2006 13:23
Up to 80 per cent of employees could soon be using voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephones, according to the latest research.
According to LearningGuide Solutions, a workplace support provider, only 20 per cent of firms that they questioned on the advancement of VoIP said that they would not be introducing it.
Around 34 per cent of firms quizzed said that they planned to bring in the 21st century office equipment within the next 12 months with 30 per cent saying that they were already introducing it.
In addition, a further 16 per cent said that they were considering introducing VoIP, which fuses traditional office equipment with new-age technology, to the office environment.
"This is in an increase on previous expectations of the growth of VoIP, signalling further change in the workplace," said Cees Louwers, managing director at LearningGuide Solutions.
"Users will be faced with changes in how to use the most fundamental piece of office equipment, as telephones become part of the office network."
Mr Louwers added that the learning and support offered to workers looking to develop their understanding of this modern day office equipment would be essential to the successful integration of VoIP to offices.
Telephones are just the latest piece of office equipment to undergo a 21st century makeover with Xerox and Toshiba developing printers that operate using reusable office supplies and Accuratus announcing the Mouse Phone, an every day computer mouse with a built-in VoIP phone.
At Paperstone, we offer a full range of advanced and traditional office equipment.
