Hi-tech office equipment to cut travel

Office equipment Offices are being urged to do their bit for the environment by consigning nine to five working days to history.

According to Work Wise, a UK-based business support network, the normal working day is unproductive and wasteful.

Plus, it claims that commuting to and from work and the use of everyday office equipment on a regular basis generates huge amounts of needless pollution.

It has called on offices and workplaces to offer employees the opportunity to work more flexibly and stagger their journeys to work.

Work Wise has said that the proliferation of 21st century, hi-tech office equipment means that it is no longer necessary to be in the office by 09:00 GMT. In fact, it has stated that this is detrimental to modern day working practices.

It claims: "Even a limited change in working practices and culture will lead to increased business productivity and competitiveness, reduce transport congestion and pollution, improve health, assist disadvantaged groups and harmonise work and family commitments."

Many people now have the necessary equipment to run their own home office, including printers, computers and other office products.

This means that it is wholly possible that much of the day's work could be done from an employee's spare room, with Work Wise saying that this will reduce pollution from travelling to work and create a happier, more productive workforce.

At Paperstone, we offer a wide range of hi-tech office equipment to help you enter the 21st century.
