Dieting in the Office – Some Tips

By Paperstone on April 21, 2017 in Food, Office Life

Dieting in the office can be a nightmare. With colleagues queuing up to offer you home-made chocolate cake and mugs of steaming hot latte, self-control can fly out of the window. And that’s only the mid-morning break…

If temptation assails you at your desk, here are a few tips to stay on track with healthy dietary choices:

  • Have a few tasty but healthy snacks in your desk at all times. Say a polite “no thanks” to the cookies and reach for a piece of fruit or a few nuts and berries (not a whole bag though!)
  • Avoid so-called energy drinks containing stimulants because they can make you feel nervous. A big glass of water is the best energy booster
  • Pack yourself a carefully-planned lunch – at least four days out of five. Eating out is expensive, not just financially but in terms of calories. You could make yourself extra food every night and bring it into the office for lunch the next day
  • Enlist a buddy to help you stay on track with your eating plan. Find someone who’s well-disciplined and see if they’ll share a healthy lunch with you
  • Talk a colleague into going to the gym during your lunch break or after work
  • Try to get the whole office on board and ban fatty and sugary foods completely. A bit of team spirit goes a long way!
