Bosses are being urged to say ‘thank you’ more often.

Employment experts say a sincere thank you from the boss can boost productivity and have a huge impact on morale. For many workers, being valued at work is as important as pay.

People are the most important resource in any organisation and they are vital to business success. Surveys have revealed many people change jobs because they didn’t feel valued and appreciated.

Business coach Ana Antunes da Silva says, “People know if they are doing a good job or not, yet that is not the point. They want to know that this is not going unnoticed and is being acknowledged by their managers. They want to hear it.

“People want to know that their hard work and contribution matter. A simple thank you will do all this and make people feel they are an integral part of the organisation.

“Acknowledging others is an aspect of good leadership.”
