Fat cat office workers should exercise more

Office workers should exercise more, suggests a new poll commissioned by The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Two out of five UK office workers struggle for breath walking up the stairs or running for a bus. Women are more likely than men to admit getting out of breath doing everyday activities.

Says CSP chairman Ann Green, “Physiotherapists see the consequences of inactivity every day and it’s a real concern that so many people are left out of breath by relatively simple tasks.”

The CSP suggests an number of cheap and easy activities to tackle a lack of fitness in the office including exercise classes, cycling challenges, lunchtime walking clubs and table tennis.

“Adopting some of these healthy habits can help us tackle the obesity crisis facing the UK,” says Green.
