Economic austerity is making office workers more environmentally conscious, according to a survey commissioned for Green Office Week which ran last week.

Avery commissioned YouGov to conduct the poll which found 47 percent of UK office workers saying their workplaces had become greener as a result of the economic downturn as staff recycled more and switched off lights and heating to save on energy bills.

Fifty percent say they have become personally “greener” and 24 percent say they could be even greener at work if they were given more encouragement from their managers.

Fifty-seven percent of office workers believe a greener office has a greater chance of saving money.
