Paper shredders ‘can help protect details’

A leading UKs advisory body on the protection of personal information has recommended the use of Paper shredding machines.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) asserted that there are many measures individuals and companies can take to protect sensitive of personal information from being used for criminal purposes.

Deputy commissioner for the ICO David Smith commented: "There are quite a number of things we can all do [for instance] shred your documents."

Statistics from a survey commissioned by Fellowes for National Identity Fraud Prevention Week show that 79 per cent of businesses do not use Paper shredders or other such office equipment before disposing of sensitive information.

A further 40 per cent of businesses were also shown in the survey to have thrown away clients’ personal information without having used a Paper shredder – putting them at risk of identity theft.

At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office equipment.
