Office furniture ‘could help employees be more active’

By Paperstone on January 9, 2008 in Office Supplies

Responding to the sedentary life of many office workers, some new office furniture has been designed that claims to help support workers incorporate activity into their day.

The N tune Seating System range of office furniture, which has been created by Neutral Posture, includes a raised desk height – from 30 inches to 40 inches – and a taller chair that could encourage employees to stand up more often.

According to the company, the most important aspect of the office furniture system’s functioning is the platform on the chair that eases the transition between standing and sitting.

This innovative office equipment was developed by a team of engineers, ergonomists and designers to fit in with potential home and office layouts.

According to research by Texas A&M University Professor Jerome Congleton, most office furniture does not take into account a worker’s ideal posture.

"The problem is that most companies have chased the chair question for so long that they forgot to ask – what is the ideal posture for a person performing work and should this work be done entirely seated?" he remarked.

Neutral Postures makes a variety of ergonomic office products.

At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office furniture.
