More than eight out of ten respondents to an Office Depot survey claim that they regularly recycle printer cartridges.

The effort to recycle inkjet cartridges is just one of the environmentally-friendly steps taken by firms across the UK, according to the figures, which indicate that 79 per cent of companies consider themselves to be at least somewhat eco-friendly.

A total of 76 per cent of respondents said that they use refillable office supplies, such as pens and pencils.

Meanwhile, 65 per cent state that they use both sides of their Paper when they make copies or print.

Yalmaz Siddiqui, environmental strategy advisor for Office Depot, explained that many business professionals are seeking greener options from their office products.

"An environmentally preferable office and home are very attainable for today’s business professionals and consumers," he remarked.

He went on to suggest that "simple changes" such as using recycled office supplies, using more eco-friendly light bulbs and recycling printer cartridges "can help anyone improve their sustainability" in the new year.

Canon USA recently introduced a corporate brand name, known as Generation Green, for its green products and solutions.
