Office machines producer Dell goes 100% green
25/06/2008 20:53
Office machines manufacturer Dell has announced it is now powering its complete headquarters in the US with eco-friendly power sources.
As part of the company's pledge to become a carbon neutral firm, its headquarters in Texas - which employs more than 10,000 people - is using a mixture of renewable energy sources - including solar and wind - to power its systems.
Last year, Dell - which makes a range of office machines and office supplies - announced that by 2010 the whole company would be completely carbon neutral, with all office machines produced with eco-friendly materials and being 100 per cent recyclable, the Recycler reports.
Dell president Paul Bell said: "It's time for our industry to take a lead role in creating a clean energy future.
"We are challenging every technology company to work with their suppliers and partners in integrating green power and energy-efficient strategies into their operations."
Earlier this month, rival office machines company Lexmark launched an environmental campaign targeting homes, offices and businesses in the UK.
Lexmark's Earth Month - which runs all the way through April - aims to improve the recycling of printer cartridges, attempts to persuade offices to print documents less and use more eco-friendly office supplies.
At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of office machines.
