Epson launches printer supplies recycling scheme
19/04/2008 00:38
One of the world's largest office machines manufacturers has launched a campaign to increase the recycling of inkjet cartridges after they have been used in office products.
Epson's Return&Recycle programme aims to limit its impact on the environment, as each set of inkjet cartridges can contain harmful toxins, with various chemicals being used in the toners.
Financial rewards could be on offer for major businesses which increase their take-up of recycling office supplies through the new Epson scheme, the Recycler reports.
Discounts on future Epson products are also being offered for individual customers who return printer cartridges.
Mark Karsey, business manager at Epson UK, said: "Epson has demonstrated a clear commitment to reducing its impact on the environment for many years now and the new toner cartridge Return&Recycle programme is another example of our global focus on sustainability.
"This new scheme complements our existing toner cartridge collection programme, in which we aim to take complete ownership of toner cartridge recycling on behalf of our customers; helping organisations to reduce landfill waste without any additional service cost or hassle for them."
Last month, Epson, along with HP and International Paper, announced their support of the ColorLok Paper Standard, which will enable thicker, more durable paper to be used with a range of office machines in the future.
