23/03/2008 21:35
Office equipment manufacturer Canon has been awarded a prestigious award from the US government in recognition for its stance of energy-efficient office products.
The office machines firm was awarded the 2008 Energy Star Award for Excellence in Product Labelling by the US environmental protection agency for its range of eco-friendly office products.
Canon has won the award nine times in the past for its continuing work on green office equipment, using a range of recycled materials in order to limit the damage on the planet.
Joe Adachi, president and chief executive officer of Canon, said: "Demonstrating our commitment to preserve and conserve the planet's limited resources for future generations, Canon continues to be at the forefront of sustainable development.
"Embracing this philosophy, we will continue to make decisions about the production and consumption of our energy resources that will shape the future of our planet."
Last month, office machines manufacturer Ricoh was named by world leaders as one of the most environmentally conscious companies in the world.
The award was judged upon the carbon emissions levels of its office products and their distribution systems and networks.
