British workers 'want greener office supplies'
15/08/2008 09:13
The vast majority of British workers feel that their employers should recycle more office supplies than they currently are doing so, a new survey has revealed.
The study by office products manufactuere Kyocera Mita found that 89 per cent of workers wanted more green initiatives.
However, the research found that 55 per cent of companies across the UK already have a "print less" campaign to reduce the amount of office supplies used in the workplace - 20 per cent higher than in most European countries.
Meanwhile, 73 per cent of firms said that making workers more aware of environmental procedures - including recycling and using greener office products - is a major part of their future planning.
The survey also found that many employees believe that green initiatives are being driven by a need to cut costs.
Last month, Kyocera Mita was awarded an important environmental certification for all its office products on sale in Europe and Africa.
The office products company has announced it has been granted the global ISO 14001 standard, which demonstrates the company's compliance with environmental management systems regarding its office machines.
