System ‘saves money, paper and printer cartridges’

A print management system has been credited with saving a UK school thousands of pounds – as well as printer cartridges, Paper and ink.

Print Manager Plus helped King’s Academy in Middlesbrough manage the printing needs carried out through office machines at the school, saving around £12,000 per year.

For example, the system provides the ability to restrict the printing rights of students using the categories of colour, file type and file name – which the company claims could help prevent students from using the school office equipment to print pictures of their favourite celebrities.

In fact, after one pupil decided to print 700 copies of the same picture as a "joke", the school was able to track the job and present his parents with a bill for the office supplies used.

"Within two weeks, Print Manager Plus paid for itself and we’ve been re-investing the savings back into our school," commented school administrator Kevin Bowker.

"We’re saving about £12,000 a year, which has allowed us to upgrade our PCs, printers and more."

Utilising a print management system may also help a school’s green credentials, as the use of printer cartridges and Paper could be reduced.
