SMBs ‘use office equipment differently’

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) vary in the way they use office equipment such as printers, a new international survey has revealed.

A total of 66 per cent of SMBs have multifunction office machines, according to a Lexmark study. However, the research indicates that only 34 per cent use them for faxing and scanning.

The printer cartridges manufacturer polled over 1,400 firms with up to 250 employees apiece and found that 63 per cent had taken measures to cut down on costs – which may include reducing the volume of printing done with office machines.

However, only 11 per cent said they had implemented strategic changes, such as those relating to workflow, to reduce costs.

Marty Canning, Lexmark vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division, said that SMBs could do more to take advantage of the potential of their office equipment.

"The gap between the capabilities of individual devices and their day-to-day use suggests that there are significant productivity improvements that could be unlocked," he remarked.

"At Lexmark, we focus on solutions that address more than just technology, but also help customers get more done and get the most out of their investments."

In addition to printers, Lexmark sells printer cartridges, office supplies and other related products.

At Paperstone we can supply your firm with a wide selection of printer supplies.
