Printer supplies manufacturer Lexmark has confirmed it will be working alongside Mentalix to provide law enforcement agencies with new printing solutions.

Lexmark’s C524 and C534 printing platforms are to be designed to complement Mentalix’s CardPrint Application Program Interface, according to the firm.

This will allow agencies such as the FBI to print mug shots and photographs of offenders straight on to blank cards featuring other details such as fingerprints and demographic data.

Brian Gross, president of Mentalix. "This solution helps agencies cut costs because they can print a variety of fingerprint card types on the same raw card stock and no longer have to keep different card types and sizes in their office inventory."

Moreover, Lexmark has noted that its range of printing solutions have been verified by the FBI and have given the law enforcement agency a whole new way of reproducing fingerprints.

"With the C524 and C534 models, Lexmark has significantly improved print quality over the monochrome laser printers that have previously been used to fingerprint cards," added Mr Gross.
