Lexmark customers rewarded for empty printer cartridges

Customers of office supplies manufacturer Lexmark who buy printer cartridges from the firm and then return them can take part in a new rewards scheme.

The Lexmark Rewards programme requires people to purchase five printer cartridges from the firm’s website within the same 12-month period, after which they will be rewarded one free cartridge.

Additionally, those who return five empty Lexmark printer cartridges to the office equipment company within a 12-month period are eligible for a second free cartridge.

This arrangement means that customers who buy five printer cartridges online and return them all to Lexmark will receive two of the products free.

The only items which are exempted from the scheme are Lexmark No 2 and 3 printer cartridges.

"Customers told us they wanted a programme that was simple and allowed them to get free cartridges. That’s exactly what the Lexmark Rewards programme delivers," said Paul Rooke, Lexmark executive vice president and president of its consumer printer division, according to therecycler.com.

In a previous Lexmark survey, customers were found to prefer free printer cartridges over other rewards, such as discounts or merchandise points.

There is no charge to join Lexmark Rewards.
