Canon iP2500 ‘simple and satisfactory’

Canon’s PIXMA iP2500 inkjet printer, which uses printer cartridges, is a simply-designed machine which performs its job well, a reviewer has claimed.

Writing in Computeractive, Simon Williams says that the device lacks the "fripperies" of other more costly machines – such as a scanner – but may be perfect for those who are only looking for a way to use printer cartridges to produce copy.

Even an output tray is missing from the machines, he explains, adding that there are only two controls – one for power and the other to feed Paper.

Printer cartridges can be used with Canon utilities such as Easy-Photoprint and Easy-Layoutprint.

Unlike some other printers of the same make, the iP2500 uses an integral print head, which means that each time new printer cartridges are used the head is changed as well.

Mr Williams cautions that printer cartridges for this particular model may be more expensive; however, he claims that the feature will also "keep maintenance costs down".

Regarding how the printer cartridges perform in the machine, he writes: "The head design helps keep print quality consistent and the printer produces sharp black text, with very little spatter, and bright, well-realised colours."

Canon produces a variety of office supplies, such as printers, printer cartridges and photocopiers.
