23/01/2007 16:20
Xerox is to deliver groundbreaking office products, services and solutions in 2007, according to the company's chief technology officer.
It has been revealed that the Xerox Group received 813 patents in 2006, with Fuji Xerox receiving 225 US utility patents.
The 558 utility patents received by the Xerox Corporation and the Palo Alto Research Centre represents a 27 per cent increase on the number recorded in 2005 and, according to the firm, signal's its intent to deliver new innovations in the office product market.
"We have increased our focus on customer-centric research and at the same time increased our efforts in filing patents," said Sophie Vandebroek, president of the Xerox Innovation Group and chief technology officer.
"Now, Xerox generates more than two thirds of its equipment sales from products launched in the last two years."
Xerox cites a number of innovations as being prime examples of its desire to produce customer-centric products, including several relating to the firm's emulsion aggregation toner and many covering hardware and software intrinsic to the future of printer supplies.
The office equipment manufacturer currently holds 8,000 active patents and claims to invest around six per cent of its revenue in developing new equipment and products.
