Tesco doubles its efforts to make consumers go green
20/02/2007 15:58
Tesco Clubcard holders are to be awarded double points for recycling used printer cartridges and mobile phones.
The supermarket chain has announced the scheme as it looks to promote green procurement among its customers.
Shoppers will also be able to gain extra green points when they purchase environmentally-friendly and sustainable products from its stores.
This ranges from fruit and vegetables to light bulbs and cleaning products, with a host of other goods also covered by the scheme.
Tesco marketing director Ian Crook said: "The bag re-use scheme has already helped us save 300 million carrier bags by changing consumer behaviour.
"We're now hoping to help customers do even more for the environment by giving them double points on green products."
The supermarket has said that it is hoping to cut plastic bag use by a quarter by 2008, adding that some four million customers have already collected green clubcard points thanks to the re-usable bag scheme.
At Paperstone, we stock printer cartridges from a wide selection of manufacturers.
