Rumours suggest HP gaming laptop launch

Inkjet cartridges Hewlett-Packard (HP) has announced the launch of the Pavilion HDX laptop, which it is reported will be its first foray into the laptop gaming market.

The company is usually associated with inkjet cartridges and other IT based office supplies, but it is rumoured that the 20-inch Pavilion model will be its first ever gaming laptop.

HP has combined the features of a Media Centre PC with Windows Vista Home Premium software.

It is set to go head to head with Dell's XPS M2010 and resembles a portable desktop with a handle to carry the 12-pound device.

According to gadget site electronista.com the unit includes a "full-featured Windows Media Centre remote dock to the left of a full-size keyboard, complete with touch-sensitive media keys at the top".

HP is currently the world's largest IT corporation based on revenue and has a strong global reputation for its printers, inkjet cartridges, PCs and related services and office supplies.

The company employs somewhere in the region of 156,000 people across the world and surpassed rival Dell as the number one ranking company for personal computer sales worldwide last year.
