Paper giants join Corporate Responsibility Group
30/03/2007 16:53
UK paper merchant the James McNaughton Group has been approved as a new member of the Corporate Responsibility Group (CRG).
The group had to endure an extensive process to become a member of the CRG and is the first representative from the paper industry to be approved.
Formed in 1987 by community affairs professionals from a number of major companies, the CRG consists of around 80 leading companies in the UK, such as Sky, Royal Mail and Tesco.
As a member of the CRG, the James McNaughton Group will be required to adopt a social, ethical and environmentally responsible approach to its business practice, as well as developing corporate responsibility.
The paper and print specialist has a history of showing a caring, corporate image.
It currently backs an ink recycling appeal in Scotland which raises money for the Macmillan Cancer Trust.
And Since September last year all energy supplied to its Erith warehouse and head office came from 100 per cent renewable sources, including wind-farms and hydro-electric stations.
"We are actively engaged and committed to a group wide program of energy usage reduction, recycling and resource re-use," said the group.
"We believe that we can maintain a profitable and efficient business for the benefit of all of our stakeholder groups and at the same time be a business that is genuinely committed to minimising the negative environmental impact of its operations."
