Manufacturers 'value office machines'
25/10/2007 17:06
A new study by office equipment maker Lexmark reveals that manufacturing professionals expect their office machines perform to a wide range of tasks.
Workers in that industry consider tasks such as making copies, faxing, scanning and printing photos as "very important", the survey results indicated.
Lexmark suggested that, since these figures were between three and 19 per cent higher than findings from other sectors, manufacturing employees needed office equipment with multiple functions.
Another finding of the report is that reliability of printers and other office machines was considered more important than in other types of small businesses.
Often, manufacturing companies' office machines are subjected to dust, debris and a range of temperatures, Lexmark commented.
"Laser multifunction technology is a must-have for manufacturing professionals because it gives them access to robust print, fax, copy and scan capabilities from one reliable device," remarked Marty Canning, Lexmark vice president and president of its Printing Solutions and Services Division.
He went on to suggest that the Lexmark T640rn could help manufacturers keep up with the latest radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.
These office machines can create and program RFID tags for tracking, as well as printing up to 35 pages per minute on regular media and 15 pages per minutes on RFID media.
In addition to printing devices, Lexmark makes supplies such as printer cartridges.
