Lexmark and Canon 'flying off the shelves'

Printer supplies Printer manufacturers Lexmark and Canon have both revealed that their printer supplies flew off the shelves in 2006.

Canon claims that sales of its printers and printer supplies were up throughout the entire 12 months of 2006, with Lexmark adding that the final quarter was a particularly robust one for its sales.

Lexmark chairman and chief executive Paul Curlander said: "We saw strong branded unit growth in the quarter in our targeted growth segments of low-end monochrome lasers, colour lasers, laser all-in-ones and inkjet all-in-ones.

"Our ongoing investments in product and brand development are better positioning us in these targeted segments, which are the engine for long-term growth."

Consumer demand for Canon's printer supplies was coupled with increased demand for other products under the Canon brand, it has claimed.

Digital camera sales led the way for the company, helping it to make record-breaking net profits across the year.
