LED lighting 'future of trendy offices'
20/06/2007 17:37
Cutting edge businesses, concerned with their corporate image, are increasingly using light emitting diode (LED) backlit panels to bathe their offices in a more sophisticated light.
The installation of LEDs into office products and office furniture serves to enhance the image of a business and its reputation among clients.
One of the more impressive LED office supplies available to businesses are the wall mounted panels of Prismex, a special acrylic that can pick up light from the edge and evenly spread it across the entire surface.
Mounted behind wall to ceiling laminated glass with embedded LED's, the over all effect is a wall of changing colours, thanks to a dichroic film laminate which "mirrors" the light across other panels.
On the other hand, more simple LED office furniture, such as a white LED backlit reception desk with a black marble counter can be equally as effective in projecting an image of success.
The use of this technology is not just confined to use in office products and environments either.
Jonty Savile, managing director of Chaos Design Consultants, a firm that recently installed a 14 panel Primex colour changing wall in an office in Finsbury Square, said: "Although this colour changing wall is in an office environment, it could easily be adapted for a nightclub, hotel or restaurant environment."
