Kodak eyeing UK inkjet revolution
04/05/2007 14:53
As one of the global leaders in photo printing, Kodak is looking to take on office supplies giants Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Epson in the consumer printing market.
Kodak recently announced its "groundbreaking" intention to enter the consumer inkjet market, claiming its printers can save consumers up to 50 per cent on everything they print compared to market rivals.
The US printing company says Easyshare 5300 and 5500 All-in-One Printers give customers affordably crisp, sharp documents and lab-quality photos at home.
This is because of the premium pigment-based inks used and Kodak suggests that the printers combine ultimate levels of print quality and easy-use with low costs.
The news comes as Kodak unveiled a new partnership with electronics retail company DSG International.
Peter Duncombe, buying director for DSG international, said: "We dedicate considerable resources to identifying original new products for our outlets and we believe the Kodak Easyshare All-in-One printers not only offer consumers the freedom to print documents and photos frequently, easily and affordably, they also have a pioneering quality which will appeal to our customers."
Kodak, founded in 1892 and based in New York, has long been recognised for its innovative photographic film products.
This recent move is likely to increase competition in the print industry, going head to head with HP over the sale of inkjet cartridges and related office products.
