ID theft highlights need for paper shredders

The threat of identity theft is continually on the rise, according to a new white paper, which once again highlights the importance of including paper shredders among your office equipment.
Security technology firm McAfee this week published the report that shows an increase of technical and manual schemes used by ID thieves.
"Identity theft is a global phenomenon that threatens all of us, which means we all need to become more aware, more vigilant and less trusting to protect ourselves," commented the firm's senior vice president, Jeff Green.
He added that businesses and individuals should be aware of the ways in which these criminals access confidential information in order to take the "necessary precautions" against becoming a victim.
With official figures showing the UK economy is losing some £1.7 billion as a result of ID theft every year, people who refuse to put their documents in the paper shredder stand to lose a lot if they were to be targeted.
The Home Office's Identity Theft Fraud Steering Committee warned people to use paper shredders to destroy documents containing sensitive information.
At Paperstone, we offer a wide selection of paper shredders in a range of makes and models.
