British workers pocketing office supplies

Office supplies UK workers have admitted to pinching office supplies from their employees – and they don't feel guilty about it.

A YouGov study has shown that workers across the country are stealing millions of pounds worth of office supplies, including expensive computer software.

The survey commissioned by The Federation Against Software Theft revealed that computer software and other illegal digital downloads were targeted by ten per cent of office thieves.

But staff were far more likely to take office supplies from the workplace, with almost two-thirds admitting they stole pens and 42 per cent suggesting they nicked post-it notes.

And it seems it wasn't just office supplies that workers were willing to nab from their place of work, with five per cent of respondents revealing they had taken toilet roll.

John Lovelock, director general of The Federation said: "Just as we expected, people fail to recognise that theft is theft – whether it's the act of physically taking something that doesn't belong to you or downloading software that you haven't paid for.

"Digital theft is costing the UK millions of pounds each year. You wouldn’t expect to walk out of PC World with a piece of software up your jumper and get away with it, would you?"
