Blackwall Tunnel toll 'bad for business'
14/02/2007 14:49
An office product manufacturer from south London has spoken put over plans to introduce a £6 toll on the Blackwall Tunnel.
Sean Satterley, managing director of the Woolwich-based office product firm Isis, has said that the introduction of such a toll would be deeply detrimental to his business as it does not generate huge sums of cash to pay the toll.
Plus, he claims that it would mean his business opportunities would be greatly reduced as his main connection with central London would effectively be cut off.
Speaking to the Wharf newspaper, Mr Satterley said: "My business in Woolwich has to work with one van going into the congestion charge area and the other staying out. It's certainly worrying from a business point of view."
The current congestion charge zone is set to be extended to the west from Monday February 19th, but Transport for London has denied that it already has plans in place to move the scheme eastwards.
It has claimed that it is merely working with Greenwich council to work out ways of reducing congestion in the area, with a Blackwall Tunnel toll one possibility.
At Paperstone, we will deliver all your office products to your door when you order from our website, meaning you don't need to venture out into the congestion charge zone.
