Skype 2.2 takes office equipment out of the workplace
13/12/2006 15:16
Office workers will now be able to take their office equipment outside of the work environment thanks to the launch of Skype 2.2 Beta.
Designed to work with Windows Mobile, the latest version of the Skype software, which is normally reserved for office equipment such as PCs and laptops, will let mobile customers cut down on their phone bills and roaming charges.
The new software is set to be compatible with pocket PCs, PDAs, smartphones and other similar devices which are 3G enabled.
Alternatively, consumers looking to use the latest mobile office product can access the service over a wireless internet (WiFi) connection.
Skype says that devices will need to have 12 megabytes of free memory to install the software, but with the proliferation of products that are compatible with expansion cards, that should be no problem for the latest hi-tech equipment.
As well as all the usual benefits attributed to using voice over internet protocol (VoIP) software, consumers will be able to take advantage of a host of additional features including an enhanced event notification portal and proxy support.
Consumers can download the Skype 2.2. Beta program from the firm's website, meaning they can get talking to fellow Skype users quickly and easily.
At Paperstone, we offer a range of office equipment designed to make your life easier.
