FIRA launches Easy Build guidelines
07/12/2006 11:31
The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) has launched a new assessment grade that it hopes will make office furniture woes a thing of the past.
FIRA's Easy Build award will be given to those firms who create and package flat-pack office furniture which is easy to build and carries clear and concise instructions.
The world's leading independent furniture technology centre offers companies manufacturing office furniture a service that will see their products graded by one of two sets of criteria, Easy Build and FIRA Check.
While FIRA Check covers basics such as packaging, clarity of instructions, the identification of essential components and safety warnings, Easy Build is designed for those firms that "go the extra mile", according to FIRA.
Simple assembly of office furniture is a key component to being awarded Easy Build status and individual pieces must be clearly labelled and be easy identifiable.
According to recent research from the Office of National Statistics, 40 per cent of the adult population become enraged when trying to put flat-pack office furniture together along with 67 per cent that struggle to even finish the job and eight per cent who injure themselves in the process.
However, FIRA claims that this need not be the case and that manufacturers and retailers can relieve the tension of building flat-pack office furniture by creating products that meet the Easy Build standards.
At Paperstone, we have a range of office furniture which we can deliver to your door, ready to go.
