Almost all office workers aware of 'printing impact'
18/12/2006 16:58
Nearly all office workers are aware of the impact printer supplies have on the environment, according to recent research.
Research by printer supply specialist Lexmark has found that 93 per cent of UK office workers know that printing can have a derogatory effect on the world outside of the workplace.
This is coupled with figures that reveal that 85 per cent of offices are operating in an environmentally friendly way and the 65 per cent of respondents who said that their empty printer cartridges are collected by the manufacturer for safe disposal.
However, 14 per cent admitted that their used printer supplies continue to be disposed of in the bin, without any regard to the environmental impact.
In addition to the use of printers in the workplace, research by Lexmark looked into wider environmental issues, including the unnecessary use of paper in an increasingly digital world.
And the study has revealed that 87 per cent of office workers claim to read emails and other important documents straight off their computers, rather than wasting printer supplies and cluttering up their office furniture with pointless pieces if paper.
But once again, Lexmark has claimed that more could be done to lessen the impact of the office on the environment, including creating an office culture whereby necessary documents are printed double sided on recycled paper.
At Paperstone, we offer a full range of printer supplies that can help your office be more environmentally friendly.
